Foundation Center    The Foundation Center's web resources are a staple for any grant seeker. Comprehensive web classes on grant-seeking basics assist in organizing and strengthening grant proposals. This searchable database of more than 65,000 foundations is available free of charge. Many books for grant seekers are available for purchase.
Proposal Writers Guide  Sponsored by the University of Michigan, this site comprehensively covers the necessary steps in writing a grant proposal.
School Grants    This independently operated site offers free examples of successful grant applications, grant writing tips, and fundraising information. A fee-based bi-weekly newsletter is available for $35 and a year and a “Write a Grant” CD-ROM may be purchased for $49.95.
Education Weekly  This site offers a plethora of little-known grants from corporate, foundation, and Federal sources. Click on the Education Week icon on the upper tool bar, then scroll down to the lower left corner of the vertical toolbar to click on grants. Free one time registration required.
Grants.gov   "Find. Apply. Succeed" is the main page heading of this federally sponsored web site offering access to all Federal grant-making agencies. Grants.gov is the single access point for over 900 grant programs offered by the 26 Federal grant-making agencies. It is not education specific. Advice on optimizing grant applications is also included.
Department of Education   The Dept of Ed’s resource page allows users to search for DOE grants, download electronic applications, and forecast upcoming funding opportunities.
GrantsAlert.com   Created by an educator with extensive work in fundraising, this independently operated site offers a user-friendly grant search engine. Receive frequent funding-related updates by registering for their free grant alert email.
Guide to Education Programs  This U.S. Dept of Ed site offers a quick way to search for DOE grants by subject, title, education level, etc.
Chronicle of Philanthropy   This site is an online newspaper geared for nonprofit organizations. Read articles regarding acquiring funding and search a large database of grant givers. Most information requires a subscription fee. Subscriptions start at $29 a year.
Fundsnet   Fundsnet provides links to education-focused foundations and corporate philanthropies. Once on this site, click on the Education or Grant Writing Resource links, which is found under the Active Channels section.
School Funding Services   A fee-based web site that provides email updates of K-12 Federal and state grant application openings and funding trends. Subscribers have access to comprehensive explanations of grant guidelines.
Writing a Successful Grant Proposal    Although created for Minnesota nonprofit grant seekers, this guide is applicable to grant seekers nation wide. Well organized web links walk the user through the many different aspects of a grant application.
Nonprofit Guides   Nonprofit Guides provides a well-organized basis for organizing your grant proposal. A brief listing of endowments and grant makers is provided.
Dell Computers  Take Dell’s K12 Grant Writing eDialogue readiness assessment to determine where you are in the grant writing process. eSchool News School Funding Center    eSchool News is primarily geared toward the K-12 technology grant writer. But they offer grant writing articles that are helpful to any grant writer. They also offer a bimonthly Grant & Funding Alert e-newsletter for $35 a year.
Tech Learning  Technology & Learning Magazine’s web site offers a grant database with an efficient search engine. Though geared toward technology grant writers, this web site would prove helpful for any grant seeker.
Renaissance Learning    Renaissance Learning provides a searchable database of Federal, state, and private funds. Additional materials regarding attaining local funds are outlined.
A Guide to Investing in Volunteer Resources Management In integral part of making the most of your library budget is utilizing volunteers effectively and efficiently. The UPS Foundation, in collaboration with more than 50 grantmakers, has created "A Guide to Investing in Volunteer Resources Management" which teaches "how to invest in and support the structures that sustain effective volunteering."
